Stressed individuals might be particularly prone to binge eating or drug addiction because of the high levels of the stress hormones in their brain. While there are several possible explanations of why this happens, it does appear that stress motivates us to seek rewards. Those of us prone to binge eating are more likely to indulge when stressed. Those who find rewards in drugs or alcohol find an increased craving for those chemicals.
